Postmodern | Week 10

From the creation of  photography in 1826 "View by Niepce's Window" by Niepce, photography has been seen as progressive (difficult to classify and misunderstood). As an understatement,  Postmodern is after modern.  Updated and avant-garde for the 20th century, the overarching concept of photography has been encapsulated by capturing the aura in the pasts immediate present (95). Thus is postmodern:  to manifest in two contradictory phenomena: expressionist painting and photography as art. Furthermore postmodernism allows for the creation of subjectivity and allowing the viewers to create art for one's self by creating and individual meaning. For instance, in the photograph listed below "Simpatia por el Diablo" by Santiago G, the silhouettes lit by the the night light and the essence of the photographer "being present" and creating art momentarily, we see the interactions of the individuals, and can not directly see what they are feeling, we as the audience get to decide. Postmodernism is creating value to the ordinary and extraordinary ordinary.
